MARION -- The Linn-Mar Invitational was exactly that.
Josh Evans set a school record, and Carolyn Newhouse led a 1-2-3-4-6 finish by the girls as the Lions swept the team championships at the Tuma Soccer Complex on Tuesday.
Evans, a sophomore ranked No. 1 individually in Class 4A, finished in 15:34, 10 seconds faster than the old Linn-Mar mark. He is unbeaten this season against Iowa competition.
The boys outscored runner-up Cedar Rapids Prairie, 37-45, for the team title. The girls were dominant.
Newhouse, Rachel Perry, Morgan Uridil, Brooklynn Kascel and Maddie Saville finished first, second, third, fourth and sixth.
Linn-Mar scored 16 points. Prairie was second with 58.
Newhouse finished in 14:56. Her expression as she ran indicated a struggle, but she won by 22 seconds.
"You're not supposed to be having fun if you're running your hardest and having a good race," Newhouse said.
