Linn-Mar wrestlers lead Metro with five first-team selections

Alijah Jeffery claimed the Class 3A 120-pound state title last Saturday and became one of five Linn-Mar wrestlers on the first team of the 2013-14 All-Metro wrestling team.
He was also named Metro Wrestler of the Year.He is joined by Damon Griffin (126), Ross Lembeck (152), 195-pound state runner-up Andrew Holladay and Sam Nowak at 220.Cedar Rapids Xavier had the second-most selections on the first team with four.
Clint Lembeck (132), 145-pound Nick Drahozal, Sean Ickes (170) and heavyweight Cole Turner reached the state tournament and earned first-team honors. Lembeck, Drahozal and Turner won state medals, led by Turner who was third.Cedar Rapids Jefferson and Cedar Rapids Prairie each put two wrestlers on the first team. The Hawks' state finalist Skyler St. John was the top pick at 160.
Josh Wenger also received first-team honors at 138.The J-Hawks' Brenden Baker, who placed third at state, was on the first-team at 106. Jefferson teammate Josh Allen was a first-team selection at 182.Cedar Rapids Kennedy sophomore Nolan Hromidko placed fifth at state and was the Metro's top pick at 113.Prairie Coach Blake Williams was named Coach of the Year, leading seven more wrestlers to second-team honors.The full team is below:
