Lewis Black got “educated” about Kirk Ferentz

Jun. 8, 2015 12:04 pm
Comedian Lewis Black was holding a Q&A after his performance at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort on May 30 as he does after most of his shows.
He was complaining about the decline of the American education system, and innocently asked the crowd 'If the University of Iowa football team doesn't do well, you fire the coach, don't you? He clearly knew little if anything about Hawkeye football.
The reaction he got from the audience was derisive laughter.
Genuinely taken aback, Black said 'It isn't like I studied ... so you have a (expletive) coach? How long's he been the coach? Forever?”
Someone in the crowd shouted out a quick summation of Kirk Ferentz's tenure and salary.
'Sixteen years the highest-paid employee in the state?” Black repeated. 'Wow! You might want to work on that. You might want to have a town meeting about that.”
Which got a big laugh.
The clip I'm referring you to from Black's website is linked here and it is NSFW. Not. Safe. For Work. Black works blue. In other words, he swears a lot.
OK, for the segment I just described, go to the 17:30 mark. The relevant part of it for this discussion lasts about two minutes.
You could say, as Newman did on 'Seinfeld” about Jerry's audiences, that it was just the reaction of 'nightclub rabble.”
By the way, I saw Black at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal last summer. He was great. My tear ducts got a good workout from laughing so much and so hard.
