Lavelle headed to Quad City Mallards

The Quad City Mallards of the minor-pro International Hockey League announced Thursday that they have hired former Cedar Rapids RoughRiders play-by-play radio man Brian Lavelle to be their Director of Communications and Broadcasting.
Lavelle was with the RoughRiders for eight seasons, coming to town after a stint with Billings of the America West Hockey League.
"I am very excited to join Mallards' organization,” Lavelle said. “The Mallards and the Quad Cities are known throughout the sport for their storied hockey tradition. It is quite a thrill to be a part of the return of the Mallards and I look forward to working with the media, the fans, and all Mallards partners in the community as we build the most exciting team in professional hockey."
