Kirkwood women’s team extends win streak to double digits

Fourth-ranked Kirkwood ran its winning streak to 10 games Wednesday night with a 78-62 victory over Southwestern (12-5, 1-1 ICCAC) at Johnson Hall in Cedar Rapids.
The Eagles (14-4, 2-0) led 40-26 and halftime and cruised to the victory from there.
Anna Martensen made her first start this season and narrowly missed a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Kirsten Larsen added 13 points, Peyton Bockholt 12.
COE 82, BUENA VISTA 68
- The Kohawks (10-4) remained unbeaten in Iowa Conference play at 3-0 in a game at Storm Lake that featured Coe's Mickey Hansche getting her 100th career 3-pointer in the 14th game of her sophomore season.
Hansche scored 21 points of 5-of-7 3-point shooting. Aleena Hobbs scored 17 points, Jenna Lehman and Megan Hayes 11 apiece.
VITERBO 76, MOUNT MERCY 71
- Abby Herb scored 25 points for the Mustangs (9-11, 0-2 MCC) in a narrow loss at Hennessy Rec Center in Cedar Rapids.
Alisa Weiland and Makenzie Zeitler added 11 points each, and Zeitler recorded 10 rebounds.
LUTHER 80, DUBUQUE 70
- Carrie Kilen's double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds helped Luther to the Iowa Conference victory in Decorah after trailing by a point at halftime.
Kylie Romeo added 15 points for the Norse (13-1, 3-0), Meagan Koepnick 12 and Moran Lonning 10.

MOUNT MERCY 85, VITERBO 73
- No. 18 Mount Mercy put five players in double-figure scoring at Hennessy Rec Center in improving to 14-3 overall and 2-0 in Midwest Collegiate Conference games.
Kyle Lamaak made 8 of 9 shots and scored 18 points. Alex Houston contributed 15 points, James Boonstoppel 14, Dondre Osborne 12 and Ian Matos 10.
The Mustangs shot 56.1 percent.
DUBUQUE 68, LUTHER 65
- Luther remained winless in Iowa Conference play with the loss last night in Decorah.
The Norse (4-10, 0-3) led 28-24 at the half then got outscored after the break despite shooting 48.3 percent (14 of 24) in the final 20 minutes.
BUENA VISTA 69, COE 60
- Coe cooled off to 29.6-percent shooting in the second half after trailing by just one point at halftime in an Iowa Conference game at Storm Lake.
JT Vonderhaar scored 21 points for Coe (8-6, 2-1). Matt Daoust added 11.
