Kirkwood reaches NJCAA D-II Final Four with overtime win

DANVILLE, Ill. - Kirkwood moved to the NJCAA Division II men's basketball semifinals by beating Louisburg (N.C.) 89-83 in overtime Wednesday night.
Nick Richards led five Eagles in double figures with 22 points. Byron Harp contributed 15 off the bench, while Hunter Rhodes had 14, Da'Rion King 11 and Jacob Olson 10.
Louisburg's Raekown Harney, who finished with a game-high 25 points, tied the game at 74 with a 3-pointer with 30 seconds left in regulation. Harp and King each missed chances to win as time ran out, but Kirkwood never trailed in overtime, with Richards' basket 15 seconds in breaking the tie.
Kirkwood made only 4 of 17 3-pointers, but forced 19 turnovers, which it turned into 12 points.
The Eagles (29-4) will take on Essex County (N.J.) (28-4) Friday at 6 p.m., with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Div. II National Championship.
