The Cedar Rapids Kernels have hired Morgan Hawk to replace John Rodgers as radio play-by-play man this season, sources have told Source Media Group. Rodgers resigned this fall after 15 years behind the microphone.
Hawk, 23, is a University of Iowa graduate who has been doing Cedar Rapids Xavier football and basketball games for KMRY-AM (1450) in Cedar Rapids. He has been a broadcast assistant in the past for Rodgers.
He told Source Media Group via Facebook on Saturday that he has been asked by the Kernels not to discuss the job until he officially begins with the ballclub in early January.
