Johnson opens British Open with 2-over 72
SANDWICH, England - Cedar Rapids' Zach Johnson opened play in the British Open on Thursday with a 2-over-par 72 at Royal St. George's golf course.
Johnson was 4 over at the turn after suffering a double-bogey on the par-4 No. 5 hole. He also had bogeys on No. 1 and 6.
He had three birdies on the back 9, however, shooting a 2-under 33 over the final nine holes.
Johnson tees off at 2:31 a.m. (Iowa time) on Friday. ESPN's coverage begins at 3 a.m.
