Jarrod Uthoff said he hopes to have his final list of college candidates whittled to the three-to-five range by the end of this month. He got one more school to consider last weekend.
The Cedar Rapids Jefferson junior basketball player said the University of Iowa has officially offered him a scholarship. It's the 11th offer for the 6-foot-8 forward.
“I talked to Coach (Fran) McCaffery this weekend and took a tour of the campus,” Uthoff said. “After we were done, he just said ‘Well, we'd love to have you be a Hawkeye.'
“Pretty awesome. It's only 45 minutes from my house.”
Uthoff's other official offers are from Albany, Arizona State, Butler, Creighton, Illinois, Indiana, Indiana State, Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Wisconsin. He said he hopes to make a commitment by mid-July.
“It's still pretty crazy,” he said.
