Dec. 14, 2016 1:40 pm
AMES — Iowa State offensive lineman Jaypee Philbert announced via social media Wednesday morning he will leave the football program and become a graduate transfer.
Philbert was suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules in September, missing the final 10 games in Matt Campbell's inaugural season.

and ISU for the ability to play college football & graduate. But I will be grad transfering my senior year
@KeepSawinWood is former ISU offensive coordinator Mark Mangino.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound junior started the first two games in 2016 — against Northern Iowa and at Iowa — at offensive tackle. As a sophomore, Philbert competed in 10 games as a reserve after playing a year at Coffeyville Community College.
Shortly after publicly announcing his intentions to transfer through his Twitter account, Philbert posted he received an offer from Southern Mississippi.
Philbert's departure frees up a scholarship for Iowa State's 2017 recruiting class, which stood at 19 commitments as of Wednesday morning.
