ISU’s Cole Netten, Allen Lazard earn all-Big 12 honors

AMES — The Iowa State football team was well represented when the All-Big 12 teams were released Wednesday.
The Cyclones had 11 players earn recognition from league coaches, including wide receiver Allen Lazard and Cole Netten on the first team.
Netten, who was also named an AP All-Big 12 first teamer on Tuesday, led the Big 12 and was third nationally in field goal percentage this season (94.1), making 16 of 17 kicks.
Lazard, who announced last week he is returning to Iowa State for his senior season, led the team in catches (69), receiving yards (1,018) and touchdown catches (7).
Offensive tackle Nick Fett, defensive linemen Jhaustin Thomas and Demond Tucker and defensive back Kamari Cotton-Moya were second-team selections.
Linebacker Willie Harvey, kick returner Kene Nwangwu, defensive backs Brian Peavy and Jomal Wiltz and guard Patrick Scoggins were honorable mention.
Iowa State Coach Matt Campbell (Coach of the Year) and Netten (Special Teams Player of the Year) also earned honorable mention status.
Oklahoma's Heisman Trophy candidate wide receiver Dede Westbrook was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year while Kansas State defensive end Jordan Willis was Defensive Player of the Year. Oklahoma's Bob Stoops was named Coach of the Year.
