The Iowa wrestling team got some bad news before its highly-anticipated dual against No. 2 Penn State on Friday night.
Iowa announced heavyweight Sam Stoll is done for the season with a torn ACL.
The sophomore had knee surgery in the offseason after suffering an injury at last March's NCAA tournament. He returned to competition at the Midlands in late December, placing third. He was 7-2 this season and ranked No. 8 by TrackWrestling.
Stoll appeared to be hurt at the end of a 5-4 loss to Oklahoma State's sixth-ranked Austin Schafer on Jan. 15.
Steven Holloway stepped into the lineup Friday and lost via technical fall to No. 5 Nick Nevills.
