Iowa sophomore forward/center Megan Gustafson was named Big Ten women's basketball player of the week after posting double-doubles in each of the Hawkeyes' first two games.
Gustafson tied a career high with 25 points in Friday's season-opening 96-76 victory over Oral Roberts and also pulled down 12 rebounds. She then had 14 points and 11 boards in an 84-51 win against Hampton on Sunday.
'Megan had an amazing freshman year. We all know that. And she's just gotten better,' Iowa Coach Lisa Bluder said after Sunday's game. 'So we've been able to see that over the course of the summer. So we expected great things out of Megan. Certainly, she started the season that way.
'I don't want to put pressure on her that she has to keep doing these kinds of things, but it would be nice if she would.'
Here's more on Gustafson, including what she worked on in the offseason after earning Big Ten all-freshman team status last year.
