Iowa women's basketball recruiting: Looking back at the senior seasons for 2018 class

IOWA CITY — A peek at next year's freshman class for the University of Iowa women's basketball team. All four members earned first-team all-state honors this season, and one (Iowa City West's Logan Cook) claimed a state championship.
Logan Cook
6-1, forward, Iowa City (West H.S.)
West struggled through a four-game losing streak late in the regular season, but a challenging schedule paid off in the end as the Women of Troy captured the Class 5A state championship. Averaged 13.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Earned 5A first-team all-state honors as West finished 19-7. Finished her career with 1,002 points.
Monika Czinano
6-3, center, Watertown, Minn. (Watertown-Mayer H.S.)
A Class 2A first-team all-stater, she averaged 23.0 points and 14.0 rebounds in leading Watertown-Mayer to a 22-7 record and a berth in the Class 2A district semifinals before falling to Maranatha Christian Academy, 80-77. Shot 66.7 percent from the field. Finished her career with 1,643 points and 1,035 rebounds, and her team won 93 games in four years.
Kate Martin
6-0, guard, Edwardsville, Ill. (Edwardsville H.S.)
Averaged 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, leading her team to a 30-2 record and a fourth-place finish in Illinois Class 4A. Finished her career with 1,516 points and led Edwardsville to a four-year record of 122-6. First-team 4A all-state by the Associated Press and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. EHS Coach Lori Blade said, '(Martin) is overly competitive, which is awesome. For her to go and have a chance to play at Iowa, she has to become a leader vocally.'
Tomi Taiwo
5-10, guard, Carmel, Ind. (Carmel H.S.)
Averaged 16.5 points per game as Carmel compiled a 24-3 record. Carmel was upset in the Class 4A regional semifinals by Zionsville, a team it had beaten twice in the regular season. A member of the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Subway 'Supreme 15' all-state seniors.
