Iowa State’s Ray Kasongo likely to transfer
May. 15, 2017 7:19 pm
Ray Kasongo's Iowa State career might be over before it truly starts.
Kasongo, who transferred to Iowa State last summer, sat out last year per NCAA transfer rules and is likely to leave Ames in the near future. Men's basketball coach Steve Prohm anticipates resolution will come soon.
'Me and Ray are talking and that will be addressed by the end of the week,” Prohm said. 'That's all I'll say on that.”
Kasongo played one junior college season at College of Southern Idaho before playing at Tennessee as a sophomore. He played in just 22 games with the Vols and averaged 5.5 minutes per game.
Even with the impending announcement that Princeton graduate transfer Hans Brase would be signing, Prohm has alluded to Iowa State still needing to fill 'a couple” scholarships this summer. If Kasongo transfers, the Cyclones would have two open spots.
