Iowa State’s 2017 football schedule revealed
Dec. 13, 2016 5:09 pm
AMES — Coming off a season that saw the Iowa State football team have three home games in its last four contests, the opposite will be true next fall.
The Big 12 unveiled its football schedule Tuesday afternoon, and the Cyclones will have three of their last four games in 2017 on the road — at West Virginia, Oklahoma State, at Baylor and at Kansas State. Iowa State hasn't ended its regular season against an opponent other than West Virginia since 2011.
In Coach Matt Campbell's second season, Iowa State will have six home games beginning with Northern Iowa on Aug. 31 or Sept. 2 — TV will dictate the date of the opener as well as some conference games. The Cyclones will host Iowa on Sept. 9 and go to Akron on Sept. 23.
The Cyclones open league play against Texas and new coach Tom Herman, who was the ISU offensive coordinator from 2009-11. Iowa State has just one open week in season — after Iowa — and ends the season with 10 consecutive weeks of games. Homecoming is scheduled for Oct. 28 against TCU.
