AMES — The Iowa State women's basketball team snagged another recruit from overseas Thursday, continuing a trend from last fall.
ISU Coach Bill Fennelly announced the signing of Sofija Zivalijevic, a prep player from Podgorica, Montenegro, who will be eligible for the Cyclones this season. She averaged 8.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists while playing on Montenegro's U20 National Team.
'We are excited to add Sofija to the Iowa State women's basketball family,' Fennelly said in a release. 'Sofija will help provide additional ball handling skills that we need. Her international experience is something we also saw as a great positive. Sofija is a great person and I know our fans will look forward to getting to know her and watching her in a Cyclone uniform.'
The 5-foot-7 point guard is the fourth signee of the Cyclones' 2016 class, and the third European player of the group. Iowa State also signed Adriana Camber of Sweden and Aliyah Konate of Germany, along with Nia Washington from Virginia.
Iowa State also will have 6-foot-0 graduate transfer Heather Bowe in the mix this fall after she joined the team last semester from Vanderbilt.
