AMES — Iowa State softball coach Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler will not have her contract renewed at season's end, the school announced Tuesday.
Gemeinhardt-Cesler spent 11 seasons with the Cyclones and achieved a 242-319-1 overall record. Iowa State is 20-32 this season and 1-14 in the Big 12 with only a three-game series at Kansas (May 12-14) left on the schedule.
Senior Brittany Gomez is one of 14 players to earn All-Big 12 recognition under Gemeinhardt-Cesler's direction and is the school's career leader in batting average (.396), hits (293), runs (164) and stolen bases (110). She also became the first ISU player to be selected in the National Pro Faspitch League Draft (No. 28 overall).
The Iowa State softball team has never finished higher than sixth in the Big 12 since the league's inception and has a 19-110 record since 2010 in conference play.
