Iowa State's men's basketball team moved up two spots to No. 2 in the latest USA TODAY coaches poll, released Monday. The Cyclones (6-0) are ranked No. 4 by the Associated Press.
The No. 2 ranking is believed to be ISU's highest ever. It was No. 3 at one point in 1957.
The Cyclones, who host Buffalo at 7 p.m. Monday, received two first-place votes from the coaches.
Michigan State (9-0) is ranked No. 1 in both polls after Kentucky's loss to UCLA last week.
Iowa (6-2) received seven points in the coaches poll, three from the AP.
The Hawkeyes and Cyclones meet in Ames at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (ESPN2).
