Iowa State DB Mackenro Alexander arrested for assault with injury

AMES — Iowa State defensive back Mackenro Alexander was in the Story County Jail on Friday after he was arrested on counts that included assault with injury, according to online records.
The arrest was first reported by the Ames Tribune.
Alexander, a fifth-year senior entering his second season with the Cyclones, was arrested Friday on four counts: two counts of assault with injury, one count of first-degree harassment and one count of fifth-degree criminal mischief. No bond was set as of mid-afternoon Friday.
Entering fall camp, Alexander was listed as a backup linebacker and safety.
As a junior in 2016, Alexander played primarily on special teams, and recorded two tackles in four games played. He began his career at Auburn in 2013, redshirted there in 2014 and played one season at Northeast Mississippi Community College before transferring to Iowa State.
