Iowa remains No. 1 with nine ranked individuals

The University of Iowa remained atop the national rankings.
The Hawkeyes are perched in first place of the National Wrestling Coaches Association NCAA Division I poll, receiving eight of 12 first-place votes, that were released Tuesday. Minnesota was second, followed by Cornell. Penn State and Missouri round out the top five.
Iowa has nine wrestlers ranked by Amateur Wrestling News, including Mike Evans, who is the highest ranked Hawkeye at second at 174 pounds. Thomas Gilman (125) and heavyweight Bobby Telford are both ranked third. Sophomore Cory Clark (133) and Nick Moore at 165 came at fourth, respectively. Josh Dziewa is fifth at 141, along with 197-pounder Nathan Burak, Brody Grothus is sixth at 149 and Sammy Brooks is 11th at 184.
Iowa is 5-0, shutting out Michigan State, 37-0, on Saturday.
A title at the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas elevated Iowa State's Kyven Gadson to No. 1 at 197. He defeated Minnesota's Scott Schiller, 5-3, in the finals. He advanced to the championship with a 3-2 win over Ohio State's six-ranked Kyle Snyder. Gadson went 5-0 during the tournament, earning Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honors, according to the conference Monday.
He is one of six Cyclones ranked, including No. 5 Mike Moreno at 165, seventh-ranked ranked Tanner Weatherman at 174, 133-pounder Earl Hall, who is 10th, Gabe Moreno is 12th at 149 and Lelund Weatherspoon (184) is 17th.
The Cyclones (4-1) remain 15th in the team rankings.
UNI had three ranked wrestlers. Dylan Peters is fifth at 125, Cooper Moore is ninth at 165 and Levi Wolfensperger (133) is 12th.
