Iowa baseball misses out on home NCAA regional
May. 24, 2015 8:48 pm
IOWA CITY - A late-season slump likely kept the Iowa baseball team from hosting its first regional in school history.
The NCAA announced its 16 regional sites for this week's NCAA tournament, but the Hawkeyes did not earn a home spot. Iowa still expects to earn its first postseason bid since 1990
The Hawkeyes (39-16) have lost four of their last six games, including two straight at the Big Ten Tournament last week in Minneapolis. Iowa ranks 29th in RPI and anywhere from 15th to 22nd in five different polls.
ESPNU will unveil the 64-team NCAA tournament bracket at 11 a.m. Monday. Four teams are placed at a regional, which begins Friday. Super regionals are held June
The locations for this week's regional tournament: Baton Rouge, La.; Champaign, Ill.; College Station, Texas; Dallas, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Houston, Texas; Fullerton, Calif.; Lake Elsinore, Calif.; Los Angeles, Calif; Miami, Fla.; Tallahassee, Fla.; Gainesville, Fla.; Louisville, Ky.; Nashville, Tenn.; Springfield, Mo.; Stillwater, Okla.
