Hlastradamus: Take Hawkeyes and 4, ask no more

Oct. 21, 2016 10:28 am, Updated: Oct. 21, 2016 12:20 pm
Hlastradamus had a representative here last week who told you Iowa would cover at Purdue and Iowa State would not at Texas.
You're all quite welcome for that useful information in advance of those games.
The prophet, using the pointspreads set by the Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas (hey Westgate, how about a few comps for the plug?), has some Week 8 winners for you good people. As well as for you rogues and scoundrels.
Iowa +4 vs. Wisconsin
The Hawkeyes were the underdog at kickoff just once this season, at Minnesota. That worked out well for you if you listened to Hlastradamus.
The Hawkeyes were a big underdog the last time they played Wisconsin at Kinnick Stadium, in 2014. Iowa didn't win, but did cover. That worked out well for you if you listened to Hlastradamus.
Heed his words again. Or else what's the point of reading this?
Don't answer that.
Nebraska -24 vs. Purdue
Sometimes teams rally for one game after their head coach has been fired.
Those teams usually do so when they're playing a fellow mediocrity. Playing Nebraska in Lincoln this year isn't medicine for Purdue's aching souls.
Northwestern -1.5 vs. Indiana
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a Northwestern graduate who has won eight Emmy awards. She insisted this week that the Emmys aren't rigged.
She was doing so to be funny. But the Wildcats, who once were lost but now are found, aren't kidding around.
Minnesota -18.5 vs. Rutgers
Hlastradamus knows how Minnesota can score a lot of points against Rutgers: Have the quarterback hand the football to a running back.
The seer also predicts the crowd at Minnesota for this game won't be large enough to fill Stub and Herb's bar a couple blocks from the stadium.
Michigan -38 vs. Illinois
That's a lot of points. But Michigan is a lot of good.
And Illinois is a lot of not.
Penn State +20 vs. Ohio State
No visitor has won by 20 points at Penn State since 1948.
Hlastradamus just made that up.
Maryland +3 vs. Michigan State
Las Vegas knows the Spartans are broken. It also knows it takes most of the country a while to catch on to these things.
By the way, Notre Dame is shattered.
