Miami fumbles for the third time today, the second one forced by redshirt freshman defensive end Anthony Nelson.

Hawkeyes settle for a field goal, the first of Keith Duncan's career, after driving to the 3.

Iowa went power, gaining 69 yards on six rushes, including Akrum Wadley's 12-yard run with just one shoe.

Miami completes another long scoring drive with Billy Bahl's 8-yard TD pass to James Gardner.

That's three scoring drives of 74-plus yards for the RedHawks.

Miami now has 392 yards of offense, including 260 through the air. Which begs the question:

The RedHawks convert a 4th-and-1 with Alonzo Smith's 3-yard run, then Billy Bahl hits James Gardner for a 29-yard score.

Bahl (14-23) now over 200 yards passing.

His 12-yard toss to Jerminic Smith makes it 35-7 Hawkeyes.

Akrum Wadley's 5-yard TD run puts the Hawkeyes back up three scores.

Miami appeared to have caught a break when officials ruled Riley McCarron fumbled what would have been a touchdown out the back of the end zone for a touchback.

But the pass was ruled incomplete (C.J. Beathard's first after eight straight completions to begin the game) after video review.

Hesse injured

Defensive end Parker Hesse recovered a first-quarter fumble, but has since been forced to the sidelines with an apparent hamstring injury

Miami had been racking up yards (151 in the first quarter), it was just a matter of not turning the ball over, which it did twice in the first.

The RedHawks get it done with an Alonzo Smith 3-yard TD run to get on the board.

Iowa pulling out the tricks already, with a 38-yard flea flicker to Jerminic Smith.

One play later, it's a touchdown.

Iowa looked to be in danger after a 67-yard pass from Billy Bahl to Rokeem Williams, but the defense got its second takeaway of the first quarter.

Anthony Nelson forced the fumble with a sack, then Matt Nelson recovered at the Iowa 15 with 6:25 to go.

Josey Jewell's replacement immediately makes an impact.

Jack Hockaday's hit on receiver Maurice Thomas forced a fumble and Parker Hesse recovered at the Miami 12 with 7:48 to go.

Akrum Wadley followed with an 11-yard TD to put the Hawkeyes up two scores early.

Ruthless opening drive from the Iowa offense capped by LeShun Daniels' 1-yard TD run.

Akrum Wadley had a 23-yard run earlier in the drive and C.J. Beathard completed his only pass to Matt VandeBerg for 33.

Six plays, 80 yards, and just like that it's 7-0.

Jewell ejected

Not even three minutes into the season opener, and junior linebacker Josey Jewell's day is done.

The second-team all-Big Ten performer was called for targeting on Iowa's first punt return of the day for a helmet-to-helmet hit.
