After the Hawkeyes cut it to a one-possession game, Ron Coluzzi's onside kick bounced up and went out of bounds with 43 seconds to go.
Wisconsin took a knee to seal it and hand Iowa its third straight home loss.
The Hawkeyes' streak of six straight wins in trophy games is over as Wisconsin takes back the Heartland Trophy.
The Badgers improve to 5-2 overall, 2-2 in the Big Ten. Iowa is now 5-3, 3-2 heading into its bye week.

Desmond King gave Iowa life with a 77-yard kickoff return to the Wisconsin 23, then C.J. Beathard hit Noah Fant for what appeared to be a diving touchdown grab.
But the call was overturned after a review.
After another incompletion, Keith Duncan hit a 25-yard field goal to make it a one-possession game and give the Hawkeyes a chance at an onside-kick recovery.

On his third attempt of the day, Andrew Endicott hit his first field goal to almost put a seal on this one.
The 35-yarder put the Badgers up 11 with 1:24 to go.
IOWA MISSED FIELD GOAL
Iowa drove 60 yards in 4:06, its most sustained drive of the game, but has no points to show for it.
Keith Duncan's 38-yard field goal was a line drive and well right.
Wisconsin takes over with 5:25 to go.

WISCONSIN MISSED FIELD GOAL
Andrew Endicott's second missed field goal of the day comes from 52 yards and keeps Iowa within one score.
Bo Bower broke up a 3rd-and-3 pass to halt the Wisconsin drive late in the third quarter.
7:20 3rd: Wisconsin 14, Iowa 6
After the teams traded punts to open the half, the Badgers found the end zone for the second time today.
Corey Clement punched it in from a yard out three plays after a 57-yard Alex Hornibrook pass to Quintez Cephus to begin the drive.
The touchdown stood after review.

Half: Wisconsin 7, Iowa 6
Take a knee? Nope. After recovering a fumble in the end zone, Iowa drove 51 yards in 49 seconds for a 10-point swing at the end of the half.
Miguel Recinos' 47-yard field goal cut the Wisconsin lead to one.
GOAL-LINE FUMBLE
Wisconsin was set up to take a two-score lead just before the half after a 54-yard pass from Alex Hornibrook to Kyle Penniston.
But Corey Clement dropped the ball reaching for the goal line, and Desmond King recovered in the end zone to give the Hawkeyes the ball back.
After review, the call stood.
Remember last year? Wisconsin fumbled inside the Iowa 5 in that game, too, a 10-6 Iowa victory.

The longest field goal of Keith Duncan's short career puts Iowa on the board.
Iowa had 3rd-and-1 at the Wisconsin 19, but George Kittle was flagged for a false start. An incompletion on 3rd-and-6 forced the field-goal try.
10:06 2nd: Wisconsin 7, Iowa 0
The Badgers replaced starting QB Alex Hornibrook with Bart Houston, and he promptly led them on an eight-play, 58-yard drive for the first points of the game.
Houston's 17-yard TD pass to Troy Fumagalli put the Badgers up 7-0 in the second quarter.
Houston completed all three of his passes for 38 yards on the drive.

TARGETING CALL REVERSED
Iowa linebacker Josey Jewell was called for targeting Wisconsin QB Alex Hornibrook late in the first quarter, an automatic ejection that would have been his second of the season (Miami).

WISCONSIN MISSES EARLY FIELD GOAL
Wisconsin drove 52 yards to the to the 14 on its first possession after Iowa went three and out, but the Hawkeye defense held, forcing an incomplete pass on 3rd-and-2.
Then Andrew Endicott missed a 32-yard field goal wide right to keep the game scoreless.
