By Diane Temple, newspaper adviserDELHI - The commencement of the football season started with several positives, including a 28-14 win over Starmont and a school record.Junior Ryan Parmely set the record for yards rushed in one game with 271. The previous record was 265. MV had 359 total rushing yards compared to Starmont's 183.After a scoreless first half, Coach Wes Wilson knew something was amiss.'We struggled in the first half," he said. "We turned the ball over too many times and were out of sync on offense.'The Wildcats turned it around in the second half and finished the third quarter with a 20-8 lead.Parmely ran for a 65-yard touchdown in the third quarter and followed that up with a 3-yard rush for six. Trevor Koopmann also scored a touchdown in the third quarter with a 4-yard rush. "We have a lot of things we need to improve on for this week. Coach Kyte (of Monticello) does a great job with his kids, and we will have to be sharp to give ourselves a chance.'The Cats play at Monticello tonight.
