IOWA CITY - As the unranked City High volleyball team wraps up the 2013 regular season, the regional pairings - which came out last Friday - are giving the Little Hawks a look into what the 'road to the state tournament' looks like.
If City High, which dropped a five-set match against rival Iowa City West on Tuesday, wants to make it back to Cedar Rapids and the state tournament for the third straight year, it will have to beat several quality teams, such as Southeast Polk (18-4) and No. 5 Urbandale (26-4).
The Little Hawks play Cedar Rapids Prairie (12-9) in the first round of the regional tournament at home on Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. If they win that match, they travel to Pleasant Hill the following Thursday to face Southeast Polk. The regional final will be held at West Des Moines Valley on Nov. 5 with the winner advancing to the state tournament in its return to the U.S. Cellular Center.
