CITY HIGH (7-1) vs. Cedar Rapids Kennedy (5-3)
At Kingston Stadium
When: 7:15 PM
Where: Kingston Stadium
The rundown: After defeating Linn-Mar, 42-28, City High is shipping off to Kingston Stadium to take on Cedar Rapids Kennedy for the last game of the regular season.
Kennedy defeated City High last year, 40-14. The Little Hawks are ranked 15th, according to the BCMoore power ranking system, and Kennedy is sitting at 22nd. City High could be ranked as low as second and as high as sixth going into the playoffs, depending on the Prairie vs. Waterloo West game. If Waterloo West wins, it would improve City High's strength of schedule and give City High a higher playoff ranking.
Kennedy's defensive front has accumulated 300-plus tackles, with Jordan Lunsford the top tackler with 70. For the Little Hawks' defense, senior linebacker Ivan Diaz is the top tackler with 72.
Kennedy quarterback Derek Jacobus has passed for 541 yards and rushed for 336. City senior quarterback Mitch Wieland has passed for a 780 yards with 246 yards rushing. Xavier Washpun still is the MVC leader in rushing with 1,472 yards.
