Hempstead beats Jefferson for 'the families'

DUBUQUE - The Hempstead Mustangs invaded the Hans A. Chlapaty sports complex on the University of Dubuque campus Friday night, defeating the Cedar Rapids Jefferson J-Hawks 35-24.
On a relatively calm night, the action on the field was anything but that. With Hempstead's playoff hopes gone, this game was for the players and the parents, who according to head coach Mark Ehlers, are what the football program is all about.
