Hawkeyes move to second in latest coaches poll

The University of Iowa received a boost from its season-opening victory.
The Hawkeyes jumped two spots and are second in the recent USA Today/National Wrestling Coaches Association NCAA Division I dual rankings that were released Tuesday.
Iowa defeated then-No. 1 Oklahoma State, 18-16, during Grapple on the Gridiron on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. The dual was the first held in an NCAA D-I football stadium and attracted 42,287 fans.
The Hawkeyes earned one first-place vote and leapfrogged No. 3 Michigan. Penn State moved into the top spot after being second in the preseason poll. The Cowboys fell to fourth. Defending NCAA champion Ohio State remains fifth.
Iowa State improved to 2-1 and moved up a spot to 17th. The Cyclones lone loss is to sixth-ranked Virginia Tech. University of Northern Iowa went 1-2 at the Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals, beating Hofstra and falling to No. 16 Rutgers and No. 18 Oregon State.
