You think your job can be tough?
How would you like to be Allen Reisner today? The former Iowa tight end from Marion had three touchdown catches in the preseason for the Minnesota Vikings. He was rookie Teddy Bridgewater's top target.
Saturday, the fourth-year pro was cut as the Vikings got down to their 53-man roster for the regular season.
Reisner was far from alone. Thirty-six ex-Hawkeyes went to camps. Thirteen were released. They were:
QB Ricky Stanzi, OL Julian Vandervelde, Adam Gettis, James Ferentz, Conor Boffeli, Markus Zusevics, Brett Van Sloten, Casey Kreiter, LBs Pat Angerer, A.J. Edds, DB Tanner Miller, WR Marvin McNutt, and Reisner.
Ferentz was added to the Houston Texans' practice squad Sunday. Edds was re-signed and put on the Jets' active roster Monday.
Practice squad playersw make a minimum of $6,300 a week, which translates to $107,100 over an NFL season.
Tight end Tony Moeaki of Buffalo and rookie linebacker James Morris of New England were placed on injured reserve. Morris injured a knee Thursday in the Patriots' final preseason game of the year.
That leaves 21 Hawkeyes on active NFL rosters. Which is subject to change because transactions can still be made this week with waiver-claims and such. The 21:
Jonathan Babineaux DT Atlanta Falcons 10th year
Marshal Yanda OL Baltimore Ravens 8th year
Scott Chandler TE Buffalo Bills 8th year
Micah Hyde CB Green Bay Packers 2nd year
Mike Daniels DE Green Bay Packers 3rd year
Bryan Bulaga OL Green Bay Packers 5th year
