Hawkeyes-Huskers game a winner for ABC

Nov. 29, 2015 2:12 pm
If the Nebraska-Iowa football game of next year is meaningful, it seems safe to say ABC will again place it in its prime 2:30 p.m. (CT) time slot on Black Friday.
Last Friday's Iowa-Nebraska game got a 3.5 overnight rating in the 2:30 time slot. That was ABC's best such rating for a Black Friday game in nine years.
The game didn't just do well for the network, it attracted 52 percent more viewers than its Friday-after-Thanksgiving 2:30 window of last year, 3:30 p.m. window in 2014, which matched 7-4 Stanford at 9-2 UCLA.
Five of college football's seven most-watched telecasts this season involved Big Ten teams, and three involved Michigan State, Iowa's opponent Saturday in the Big Ten title game that will be televised by Fox. They are:
1. Michigan State-Ohio State, Nov. 21 (ABC)
2. Ohio State-Michigan, Nov. 28 (ABC)
3. Ohio State-Virginia Tech, Sept. 7 (ESPN prime-time)
6. Michigan State-Michigan, Oct. 17 (ESPN)
7. Oregon-Michigan State, Sept. 12 (ABC prime-time)
