Mar. 19, 2017 6:00 pm
IOWA CITY — It's Colorado. It's Thursday. And it's at home.
The WNIT announced late Sunday afternoon that the Iowa women's basketball team will host Colorado in a third-round game. Tipoff is 7 p.m. Thursday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena,
The announcement came minutes after the Buffaloes (17-15) outlasted South Dakota State, 81-75 in overtime, in their second-round contest at Brookings, S.D.
It will be the third consecutive WNIT home game for the Hawkeyes (19-13), who have posted victories over Missouri State and South Dakota by margins of 95-74 and 78-73, respectively.
Colorado leads the series with Iowa, 3-2. The Hawkeyes captured the most recent meeting, 78-63, in 2014.
The Buffaloes tied for ninth place in the Pac-12. They beat UNLV, 66-52, in the first round of the WNIT, then prevailed in overtime Sunday after squandering a 13-point fourth-quarter lead. Kennedy Leonard posted 29 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.
