Hawkeyes’ football regular-season over/under wins number same as it ever was
For the fourth-straight season, Iowa opens at 7.5 wins. That paid off in 2023 and 2024. But it doesn’t suggest a College Football Playoff berth is at the end of the 2025 rainbow.

Greatness -- or at least a spot in the College Football Playoffs -- apparently isn’t in the cards this year for Iowa or Iowa State.
To go by the opening 2025 over/under regular-season wins totals put out by our good friends at Circa Sports this week, we’re more likely to see the Hawkeyes or Cyclones at the Rate Bowl than at a game that matters.
The Rate Bowl. Yes, that’s what it’s called. That’s a sexy-sounding creature, don’t you agree?
Anyway, our good friend Brett McMurphy tweeted Circa’s numbers today. Iowa and Iowa State are both at 7.5 wins. Coincidentally, both opened at 7.5 last year, too. The Hawkeyes went 8-4, the Cyclones 10-2 in the regular-season.
Iowa opened at 7.5 in 2022 and 2023, also. The under cashed in ‘22, the over in ‘23.
