Hawkeyes chase 14th straight win vs. Wisconsin

Feb. 6, 2015 11:55 pm
IOWA CITY - On, Wisconsin?
For the Iowa Hawkeyes, it's been more like 'Own Wisconsin.”
'We've been fairly successful at Wisconsin,” Hawkeyes Coach Lisa Bluder said. 'That's been a pretty good road place for us.”
Better than pretty good.
Iowa has won 13 straight games in this series, and 19 of the last 21. The Hawkeyes have captured six straight wins at Madison.
They'll go for another at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Kohl Center.
For Samantha Logic, it's the final trip to her home state.
'The most special part is after the game, seeing everybody there from my hometown (Racine) that comes over to support me,” Logic said.
It means a lot to Bluder, too.
'I want her to be proud that she left her home state,” Bluder said.
No. 17 Iowa (18-4 overall, 9-2 Big Ten) remains in sole possession of second place in the league by virtue of Thursday's 73-65 win over Ohio State. The Hawkeyes used a 30-6 first-half run to take a 20-point lead, then held off a second-half Buckeyes surge.
Defense carried the day. Ohio State's Kelsey Mitchell and Ameryst Alston entered the game averaging 46.6 points per game. They managed just 26 Thursday.
Iowa's Ally Disterhoft has scored 20-plus points in four straight games.
Wisconsin (8-13, 4-7) hasn't played since Sunday's 73-62 win at Illinois, which ended a four-game losing streak. The Badgers already have surpassed their conference win total from the previous two seasons, both of which ended at 3-13.
Nicole Bauman leads UW at 13.9 points per game, but the Badgers rank at the bottom of the Big Ten in scoring (62.0 ppg) and turnover margin (minus-4.95).
