Hawkeyes among those splattered by Michigan recruit

May. 24, 2017 1:21 pm
It's no longer enough for high school sports recruits to don a ballcap of the universities they're about to join when they go public with their college choice.
Jalen Mayfield, a high school offensive lineman from Grand Rapids, Mich., announced Tuesday night that he would play at the University of Michigan.
That was no shock since Mayfield de-commited from Minnesota in late March after Michigan got interested in him. Mayfield went from a 3-star to a 4-star recruit this spring. 247Sports ranks him the top Class of 2018 recruit in Michigan.
Mayfield made his announcement in an unorthodox way, posting a video. In it, he drives into a park in a Jeep and uses a paintball gun to hunt down fellow paintball players who are wearing garb representing the schools that offered him scholarships. They are Minnesota, Nebraska, Michigan State, and finally, Iowa. Then he states he's decided 'to go blue.'
Seems odd.
Iowa's next game against Michigan is 2019 in Ann Arbor.
