Iowa men’s basketball adds 6-foot-11 Riley Mulvey for 2021-22 season

Prep from New York reclassifies to join Iowa this year

The Iowa men’s basketball team is getting some help in the middle for next season.

Riley Mulvey, a 6-foot-11, 230-pound high school junior from Rotterdam, N.Y., announced Saturday he is reclassifying and beginning his college career this fall. He committed to Iowa’s 2022 recruiting class last month.

Mulvey chose Iowa over Penn State, Syracuse and Virginia Tech, among others.

He spent his junior season of basketball at St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Conn.

Last season, Mulvey averaged 12.0 points, 12.4 rebounds and 6.0 blocked shots per game for Albany (N.Y.) Academy.
