Guns and high school football came together a lot last week in America
Here’s a sampling of gun-related violence and scares intermingling with prep football

Choctaw, Okla: A 16-year-old boy was killed and four others were injured in a shooting during the third quarter of Choctaw High’s home game against Del City.
The boy was a Del City student.
Officers found two guns and eight rounds at the scene.
Abington, Pa.: Police arrested a Cheltenham High School student for bringing a gun into the Abington High School stadium during the Cheltenham-Abington game.
The gun was loaded, and the student had an extended magazine protruding from his waist. He also was carrying a second loaded magazine.
The game was suspended at halftime and the stadium was evacuated.
Los Angeles: A woman was struck by a stray bullet during the game between Verbum Dei High and Maya Angelou Community High.
She is an employee of Angelou High. She was hospitalized, and was reported to be in a stable condition.
Hueytown, Ala.: A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody for having a gun at the game between Ramsay High and Hueytown High.
As the suspect tried to elude law enforcement officers in the home-side bleachers, Hueytown assistant coach Chandler Byram tackled him to the ground.
The boy was taken to juvenile detention.
Aurora, Colo.: Police rushed to the game between Vista PEAK Prep and Rangeview when fights broke out among spectators.
One unidentified juvenile had a handgun, police said, and was arrested.
Goodyear, Ariz.: Police arrested a teen boy who they say threatened to shoot a girl after the game between Westview and Millennium.
The boy was booked into the Durango Juvenile Detention Facility on multiple felony charges.
Tulsa, Okla.: A 16-year-old boy waved a gun and caused panic in the fourth quarter of the game between Bentonville West and Booker T. Washington.
Police said the boy was seen "lunging with his shirt tail pulled up, brandishing a tan pistol."
The suspect ran away and dropped the pistol, which was recovered by officers.
Portsmouth, Va.: Gunfire in a neighborhood near Kempsville High sent fans and teams running for safety.
The game between Green Run and Kempsville was halted in the fourth quarter.
A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man had gunshot wounds and “non-lethal” injuries.
Waukegan, Ill.: Waukegan High moved its scheduled home game against Round Lake over safety concerns.
The school said the game was moved to Round Lake High “in response to an increase in violent events in the community" recently.
There were two shootings last week in Waukegan. A man suffered a gunshot graze wound to the head. Two women were injured badly enough to need surgery.
Fairfield, Calif.: This one happened Saturday. A road rage incident led to gunshots being fired, forcing a Pop Warner game to end early.
