Greiner sweeps stock car class at West Liberty

May. 18, 2010 5:06 pm
Relentless Racing owner Matt Greiner captured a heat race and then claimed the checker flag in the stock car division during weekly races Saturday at West Liberty Raceway.
Greiner, an accomplished stock car veteran and Washington, Iowa, native, took the lead for good about halfway through the 15-lap feature, winning his first of the season. He finished 11th during a feature held in April.
He was one of five feature winners, joining Nick Marolf, Ryan Dolan, Jason Speers and Shaun Slaughter. Marolf used a good restart with five laps remaining to accelerate by Denny Eckrich for the late model win.
Dolan also claimed his first feature victory of the season, taking over the lead and not looking back for the modified victory over Bruce Hanford.
In B-modified feature, defending seasons points champion Jason Speers raced to a victory, leading the final 10 laps of the 15-lap feature.
Shaun Slaughter edged Jerrod McMichael to win the Flyers division.
West Liberty runs again this Saturday, starting at 6:30 p.m. IMCA Late models and a full schedule of classes will be on the slate.
