Gonna Make You An Offer You Can't Refuse - A Fan's Perspective

You've all seen (or at least heard of) them by now...Those "dapper Don's"  in brilliant orange suits, black shirts, and black fedoras.

When they enter the building, they command attention. Springville fans love them. They are awesome. The girls on the team love them. They are fierce. The press loves them. They are the stuff of an instant legend.In real life, just typical teenage boys, they represent everything that is good, and right, and amazing about life in a small town, and a small school. Some play basketball. Some play football. Some play baseball, or run track. Some are in band and drama. All are decent young men, and leaders within the school community. They are all seniors, who parted with hard earned cash for a brilliant orange suit, so they could make a BIG statement of support for their girls basketball team. Now how cool is that?I'll tell you how cool....so incredibly cool that they were instantly dubbed

"The SHS Mafia". This Oriole Fan heartily applauds the terrific young men of the "Mafia" for their resourcefulness, creativity, and overflowing abundance of school/team spirit......It's no secret that this writer is a strong proponent of good sportsmanship....and the Mafia brings a new level of enthusiasm, and some fun GOOD press to SHS. In recognition of their school spirit, their leadership of the student body and their peers, and of their role as very visible symbols of Springville High School...let's make them an offer they can't (or hopefully won't) refuse....A sportsmanship "Hit" is requested....to the six orange suited members of SHS Mafia...If you will keep your student section from chanting during free throws, from yelling "airball", from being rude and unseemly, from gesturing at the opposing teams fans, and other unsportsmanlike conduct throughout Wednesday's game...If you will lead the student body in cheering WITH the cheerleaders not over them, and cheering FOR the Orioles, instead of against the other team...If you will lead by example and keep your "family" in line, so that SHS can stand out as THE model of decorum and good sportsmanship...If you will show the state of Iowa what it takes to wear that orange suit...If you Six SHS Mafia Men will "Take Out" unsportsmanlike conduct tonight, when we win this game, your tickets to the final game on Friday will be "taken care of". The "Fed" (You boys know who she is) will have the details for you, if you choose to make the hit.What say you SHS Mafia...can you Bring It?
