Girls' Rivalry Saturday is set for Jan. 22, 2011

Rivalry Saturday director Scot Moenck said Thursday that one game has been booked for next season's event.

It's a goodie.

Defending Class 4A state champion Linn-Mar will face Ballard -- the preseason favorite in 3A -- at the U.S. Cellular Center. The game will feature two of the nation's best seniors in Linn-Mar's Kiah Stokes and Ballard's Taylor Greenfield.

The date is Jan. 22, 2011. In the past, the event has consisted of six girls' basketball games.

Other than the Linn-Mar/Ballard matchup, everything is sketchy. Maquoketa Valley will play in the event, because that's the team Moenck coaches. Moenck wants defending 2A champion Mount Vernon in the mix, preferably against Williamsburg or DeWitt Central.
