Cedar Rapids race car driver Joey Gase will race this weekend in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Pioneer Hi-Bred 250 at Iowa Speedway in Newton.
The 19-year-old confirmed Monday that he will team with Jimmy Means Racing, making his sixth start this season. His first five starts of the year came with Go Green Racing after signing a deal with the racing team in January. Gase made his NASCAR Nationwide debut last August at the Iowa Speedway, placing 20th in the U.S. Cellular 250.
Gase finished 29th or better in three of his starts this season, including season-best 23rd-place finish March 24 in the Royal Purple 300 at Auto Club Speedway where he completed 148 of 150 laps. He is 29th in the 2012 Nationwide Series points standings, and has a feature win in two late model division races at Hawkeye Downs Speedway this year.
