Cedar Rapids teenager Joey Gase expects to have a ride in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race in August at the Iowa Speedway in Newton. According to Bob Gase, the father of the 18-year-old race car driver, Joey Gase has become qualified to run and should pilot a car for Go Green Racing in the Nationwide Series U.S. Cellular 250 on Saturday Aug. 6.
Bob Gase said he received a call Wednesday to confirm it. Joey Gase ran in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East/West Challenge at Iowa Speedway in May but did not qualify. Joey Gase, who just graduated from Cedar Rapids Xavier in May, is fourth in the late model season points standings at Hawkeye Downs Speedway, even though he leads all late model drivers with three feature wins this season.
