For the first time in 23 years, Iowa has won a game at the Breslin Center.

The Hawkeyes (13-3, 4-0) hit nine first-half 3-pointers, racing to a 47-25 halftime lead, and beat No. 4 Michigan State (16-2, 3-2) for the second time this season Thursday night.

The last time Iowa won in East Lansing was 1993, also the last year the Hawkeyes swept the Spartans. Iowa beat Michigan State 73-60 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena two weeks ago.

"This is not just Michigan State playing poorly," ESPN analyst Jim Calhoun said. "This is Iowa making them play poorly."

Peter Jok led the Hawkeyes with 23 points, 19 coming in the first half. Jarrod Uthoff had 15, plus 10 rebounds and two blocks. Anthony Clemmons finished with 13 points in his final game in his hometown and Dom Uhl 10 off the bench.

Matt Costello had 15 for the Spartans while Denzel Valentine finished with 14 in his first start since being injured in December.

The Spartans shot 41.8 percent from the field and turned it over 16 times, 12 in the first half.

Iowa cooled down in the second half, shooting 43.1 percent by game's end, but nine first-half threes helped make the difference.

The Hawkeyes also had an edge on the glass, out-rebounding MSU 39-35. The Spartans came into the game ranked first in rebounding margin.

Iowa collected 13 offensive rebounds.

Michigan State has played much better in the second half, but Iowa has maintained its double digit lead.

The Hawkeyes are now shooting 43.3 percent to MSU's 42.9 percent, but the Spartans are still just 4-for-21 from 3-point range.

Iowa's 3-point onslaught in the first half and the Spartans' trouble with turnovers have provided the difference.

Peter Jok (21), Jarrod Uthoff (15), Anthony Clemmons (10) and Dom Uhl (10) are all in double figures for the Hawkeyes. Matt Costello leads Michigan State with 15 points while Denzel Valentine has 12.

Iowa's tenacity on the glass has been huge. The Hawkeyes have 12 offensive rebounds against what is traditionally an exceptional team on the boards.

An Eron Harris three cut the lead to 19 and MSU calls a timeout, looking for a run to get back in the game. Iowa has answered everything thus far.

Wild sequences at points early in the second half, with Iowa holding the ball for over 90 seconds at point due to a number of offensive rebounds.

The Spartans cut the lead to 18 after a Matt Costello dunk, but Jarrod Uthoff nailed a 3 in Deyonta Davis' face to put Iowa up 21 headed to the media timeout.

Uthoff now has 13 points and nine rebounds.

Iowa shot a blistering 9-of-15 from 3-point range to lead No. 4 Michigan 47-25 at halftime in East Lansing.

Peter Jok leads all scorers with 19 points, hitting three of his four attempts from long range and capping the first period with a transition slam.

Dom Uhl hit two threes and has 10 points while Jarrod Uthoff also knocked down a pair and has eight points at the break.

The Spartans have turned it over 14 times and shot 40 percent from the field (8-20).

"This is the first time I've seen Michigan State, all year, unsure of themselves," ESPN analyst Jim Calhoun said.

"In shock," Calhoun said. "And by the way, impressed (with Iowa.)"

The Hawkeyes haven't won in East Lansing since 1993.

Iowa is 7-of-11 from 3-point range and forced an MSU timeout, going up 11 after back-to-back makes by Jarrod Uthoff and Peter Jok (his third).

A Uthoff make from NBA range two minutes later put Iowa up 16 before Valentine slid in for a layup.

Meanwhile Michigan State has now turned it over 12 times, and Iowa has 13 points off them, the latest two a Jok steal and layup. He leads Iowa with 11 points.

"For whatever reason, they're not seeing the quickness of this Iowa team defensively," ESPN analyst Jim Calhoun said.

The Spartans have been surprisingly sloppy and the Hawkeyes have taken advantage.

Iowa has an 11-0 advantage in points off turnovers, with MSU losing it seven times to the Hawkeyes' four.

Peter Jok drew praise from color commentator Jim Calhoun for his quick release, hitting both of his early 3-point attempts for six points.

Mike Gesell is still on the bench with two fouls but Anthony Clemmons has run the point effectively in his absence.

Denzel Valentine made his presence known immediately in his first start since being hurt in December, hitting a three out of the gate.

It's been a fast-paced game, with the Hawkeyes hitting all three of their 3-point attempts for an early lead.

Mike Gesell picked up two fouls and was replaced by Dom Uhl, who converted two tip-ins and drilled a 3-pointer for the current margin.
