Final - Iowa 70, Purdue 63
After trailing by as many as 19 in the first half, Iowa came all the way back to beat No. 14 Purdue on the road Saturday, its second win over a top-25 team this week and first at Mackey Arena since 2006.
"A lot of coaches say this, I'm proud of my guys," Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said on BTN. "But I could not be more proud."
The Hawkeyes (11-3) knocked off No. 1 Michigan State at home Tuesday and are now 2-0 to begin Big Ten play.
"(Michigan State coach) Tom Izzo said this is the toughest Iowa team he's ever seen. I think this bodes well for that statement," BTN analyst Stephen Bardo said.
Purdue (13-2) hit seven 3-pointers in the first half and led 37-20 at the break, but Iowa, which shot 23.3 percent in the first 20 minutes, turned it up a notch out of the locker room.
The Hawkeyes' pressure defense gave the Boilermakers major problems, and Iowa converted at the other end, shooting 64.2 percent in the second half. Purdue turned it over 10 times in the second half.
Iowa was 6-for-9 from 3-point range after a 1-for-10 first-half mark. Jarrod Uthoff had all but four of the team's points in the first half and finished with 25, as well as four blocks.

His supporting cast stepped up in the second. Peter Jok finished with 10 -- eight in the second half -- and nine rebounds. Anthony Clemmons had eight, Nicolas Baer seven. Mike Gesell also had seven, plus seven boards and seven assists.
Clemmons left the game late after being inadvertently hit in the hip by 7-foot A.J. Hammons.

Kendall Stephens led Purdue with 12 points. Hammons had 11 off the bench and Dakota Mathias finished with nine, all first-half threes.
2:20 2nd - Iowa 61, Purdue 55
This is flat-out entertaining basketball.
Dom Uhl gave Iowa its first lead of the second half at 48-46 with a three, then Nicholas Baer put the Hawkeyes up again with a trey after the Boilers tied it.
Johnny Hill's monster slam brought the Purdue crowd to its feet, but Jarrod Uthoff silenced them with a wrap-around finger roll.
Iowa extended the lead to seven -- its largest -- before a Raphael Davis three. Baer's turnaround pushed the lead to six before the media timeout.
Iowa is shooting 62.9 percent (17-27) in the second half, out-scoring Purdue 41-18.
7:46 2nd - Purdue 46, Iowa 45
It's all Hawkeyes in the second half, and this one now appears headed down to the wire despite Purdue leading by 19 late in the first.
Dom Uhl connected from outside, then later Mike Gesell hit to cut the lead to five.
All of this has started on the defensive end. Iowa running a trap with effectiveness. Pressuring the ball hard, getting help. January 3, 2016
All of this has started on the defensive end. Iowa running a trap with effectiveness. Pressuring the ball hard, getting help. #Hawkeyes

Iowa turned that defense directly into points with Peter Jok coming up with a steal and layup to slice the lead to three.
Jarrod Uthoff made it a one-point game with an un-guardable turnaround.
It's a 25-9 Hawkeye second half.
Meanwhile, Purdue has used all of its timeouts.
11:53 2nd - Purdue 46, Iowa 35
Iowa is on its way back. Jarrod Uthoff has just one second-half point, and that's a good thing, as others have finally found their groove.
Anthony Clemmons in particular has come alive, with eight points, his latest a step-back three after a nasty crossover that cut the lead to nine.
On the other end, Purdue has looked out of sync against Iowa's pressure defense.
#Boilermakers with three turnovers in the last 2:42 of game time, which consequently is their scoring drought. #Hawkeyes
— Jeremiah Davis (@jeremiahdavis10)
Following a Purdue timeout, A.J. Hammons' turnaround put the Boilers back up double digits. That's the problem Purdue forces teams into -- its leading scorer comes off the bench.
15:48 2nd - Purdue 44, Iowa 29
Iowa players not named Jarrod Uthoff had four points in the first half. In the first four minutes of the second, they had nine.
That's a good sign for the Hawkeyes, trying to get back in this game.
It's still a 15-point deficit at the first media timeout.
Half - Purdue 37, Iowa 20
Jarrod Uthoff scored all but four of Iowa's first-half points and Purdue hit 7-of-14 3-pointers to open up a 17-point halftime lead.
The Hawkeyes shot a miserable 23.3 percent in the first half, including 1-of-10 from beyond the arc against one of the best defensive teams in the country.
"What you see now is Iowa settling for threes because they can't penetrate or find an opening in the paint area," BTN analyst Stephen Bardo said.
Iowa jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but nothing has gone its way ever since.
Kendall Stephens leads Purdue with 10 points while Dakota Mathias has nine, all on threes.
3:40 1st - Purdue 33, Iowa 18
Purdue has cooled down but its defense remains impeccable.
The Hawkeyes are shooting just 29.2 percent and 1-of-7 from 3-point range.
#Hawkeyes need something - anything - from someone other than Uthoff on offense.

7:06 1st - Purdue 27, Iowa 15
Much was said about Purdue's size advantage coming into the game but it's been the outside shooting that's killed the Hawkeyes.
The Boilers made three in a row out of the timeout -- one from Dakota Mathias and two from Kendall Stephens -- to quickly take a nine-point lead.
Isaac Haas added a bucket on an offensive board and then Ryan Cline joined the fun from deep.
Purdue is 7-for-10 from outside so far and Mathias and Stephens have combined for 17 points.
Iowa looked stagnant on offense with the second unit in. Too much standing and watching when Uthoff has the ball.
Uthoff has 13 points and has a chance to make it 14 after being fouled on a made reverse layup that brought us to the media timeout, snapping a 16-0 Boiler run.
11:07 1st - Iowa 13, Purdue 13
Iowa missed six straight shots at one point, and Purdue took its first lead thanks mostly to a pair of bench players.
Dakota Mathias drilled two 3-pointers and A.J. Hammons -- the team's leading scorer -- followed with a dunk to put Purdue up 11-10.
Jarrod Uthoff answered with a three before the Boilers tied it back up on Kendall Stephens' layup.
Uthoff didn't do much against Michigan State and didn't have to, but he's been extremely active so far Saturday, scoring all but two of Iowa's points so far.
Before his three, he blocked a jumper, then ran the floor, took a feed from Anthony Clemmons and spun for the layup.
15:56 1st - Iowa 6, Purdue 3
Terrific start for the Hawkeyes, getting out to a 6-0 lead on a tough fadeaway from Jarrod Uthoff, Peter Jok jumper and Uthoff lay-in off an in-bounds.
The defense appears to be picking up where it left off Tuesday, making nothing easy for the Boilers inside and rebounding effectively.
But then Adam Woodbury missed an absolutely wide-open dunk and Purdue raced down for a Vince Edwards three to make this not so one-sided headed into the media timeout.

Pregame Reading: Boilermakers present physical challenge to Hawkeyes
On the Line: It's the rare occasion where Iowa won't have a size advantage. Can the Hawkeyes display the necessary toughness to win at a sold-out Mackey Arena?
#PostDomination #Purdue's 276 post-up field goal attempts lead the country by a HUGE margin. #BoilerNotes

The Boilers feel they have a real shot at the Big Ten title (and Iowa should, too, for that matter) and protecting home court is obviously crucial to meeting that goal.
