Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Dubuque Senior face off in a matchup of 0-3 teams. The Cougars get a bit of a break from a brutal early-season schedule. They're winless but the teams they've faced in the first three weeks are unbeaten (C.R. Xavier, Linn-Mar and C.R. Washington). Kennedy was very competitive in the games against Linn-Mar and Washington and certainly could have won either of those games.Dubuque Senior is fresh off a heart-breaking loss to Waterloo West, driving down the field in the final minutes to score a touchdown to pull within one but had a bad snap on a failed PAT to lose 21-20.Teams are lined up ready for the conclusion of the sophomore game, which Kennedy leads 28-13 with 1:15 to go. That's the final. Kennedy sophs win, 28-13.We're 17 minutes from kickoff. He also had a big 9-yd run on a key 4th-down conversion. With 1:45 to go in the first Kennedy leads 14-0.Kennedy takes a 20-0 lead on a 17-yard 4th-and-goal after a penalty negated an earlier TD. Kennedy defense has shut down Rams offense, holding them to 22 yards of total offense (all on the ground) and no first downs. Biggest play came on the last play of the half, which was a 9-yard run as time expired.Kennedy wastes little time, scoring on its opening possession of the second half. Christian French ran an end-around for a 76 yard TD on the Cougars third play of the half to go up 33-0.Trevor Heitland helped make it 40-0 with 4:35 to go in the 3rd with a 56 yard TD run.Continuous play clock. heitland scores again.
