CLASS A SEMIFINAL
BGM (12-0) vs. Wapsie Valley (12-0)
Kickoff: 10:06 a.m. at UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls
Rankings: BGM is top-ranked, Wapsie Valley No. 3
Notable: A rematch of last year's semifinals, a game Wapsie won, 40-18, en route to the Class A state championship. The Warriors have won 26 consecutive games. WV is a run-dominate team led by backs Ethan Kleitsch and Stone Kane, who each have 20 rushing touchdowns. Wapsie edged Gladbrook-Reinbeck, 20-15, in the quarterfinals. BGM beat back Pekin in the quarterfinals, 29-8, on the strength of 206 yards rushing and four touchdowns from Jack Kline. The senior running back has 1,684 yards rushing and 31 TDs this season, not including a national-record nine punt-return touchdowns.
CLASS 4A SEMIFINAL
Cedar Rapids Xavier (11-1) vs. Bettendorf (10-2)
Kickoff: 4:06 p.m. at UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls
Rankings: Xavier is No. 3, Bettendorf is No. 10
Notable: A rematch of the Class 4A semifinals, a game Xavier won, 21-14, on "The Immaculate Recovery," a 95-yard fumble return for touchdown by defensive back David Drahozal. His younger brother, Nick, is a starting cornerback on this Xavier team, which has not allowed a point in the postseason and has eight shutouts overall. Xavier scored three touchdowns in the third quarter for a 21-0 quarterfinal win over Cedar Rapids Kennedy. Bettendorf, meanwhile, surprised unbeaten Pleasant Valley in the quarters, 17-6. Quarterback Cyle Cox is a dual threat, compiling 1,522 rushing and throwing yards and 23 touchdowns.
