CLASS 4A SEMIFINALS
Iowa City West (24-0) vs. North Scott (21-3)
When: 1:30 p.m.
Where: Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines
Scouting Report: These teams each won by nine points in their quarterfinal games. West had a tougher time than most expected with Sioux City North, finally winning, 69-60. North Scott led virtually the entire way in dumping, Waukee, 63-54 ... West, of course, is seeking an unprecedented fourth consecutive state championship. The Trojans are riding a 29-game win streak. North Scott is on a 14-game win streak. The Lancers have lost just once to an Iowa opponent, that to Pleasant Valley, which is also is in the 4A semifinals ... West has incredible balance offensively, with all five starters averaging double figures. North Scott has a big two in Cortez Seales (17.4 points per game) and Marlon Stewart (17.0). Seales has signed with the University of North dakota, Stewart with Creighton. How West is able to handle their penetrating abilities will be important.

CLASS 2A SEMIFINALS
Iowa City Regina (22-4) vs. Treynor (23-3)
When: 8:06 p.m.
Where: Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines
Scouting Report: The title game features a sixth seed (Regina) versus a fifth seed (Treynor) ... Regina hasn't won a state basketball championship since 1979, ending a four-year stretch in which the school won it all three times. Iowa City St. Mary's (Regina's forerunner) also won a pair of titles in the 1950s. Treynor has never won a state basketball championship ... Regina's super two of center Drew Cook (22.3 ppg) and guard Nathan Stenger (14.9) were a potent quarterback-receiver combo in football. The Regals have been great defensively in this tournament, holding Cascade to 32 points in the quarterfinals and Pella Christian to 33 in the semifinals ... Treynor edged Forest City in the quarters, 69-66, and top-seeded Aplington-Parkersburg in overtime, 74-70, in the semis. The Cardinals are led by senior guard Nolan Chapman (15.5 ppg) and go 6-foot-4, 6-5 and 6-6 up front.
