Former Marion prep Semler a NJCAA all-region hoops player

Former Marion prep Kasey Semler was one of two players at Kirkwood Community College to earn first-team all-region honors in men's basketball.Semler, who injured his knee late in a 19-13 season for the Eagles, also is an NJCAA Division II all-American candidate. He averaged a team-best 11.6 points per game for Kirkwood, shooting 44.8 percent from 3-point range.Also earned all-region honors for the Eagles was former Dubuque Hempstead prep Gage Heffernan (first team) and former Cedar Rapids Jefferson prep Taylor Olson (second team).
