Former Iowa assistant coach dies in Chicago home

IOWA CITY — Former Iowa assistant men's basketball coach Joel Cornette died at his Chicago apartment early Tuesday morning, the Indianapolis Star reported. Cornette was 35.
Cornette, a former player and director of operations at Butler, followed Coach Todd Lickliter to Iowa in 2007 and spent three years as an Iowa assistant. He worked in television for two years and has become a sports agent in the Chicago area.

The Star reported the cause of death is undetermined and an autopsy is planned.
